I have to admit that when my contract is up…..

October 3 2017 at 2:09 am

A problem that might arise if the energy suppliers were nationalised could be the tariffs. Example: I and many others are on the cheapest gas and electricity tarriff available, the nationalised supplier comes in and increases the tarriff by £200 per year, that is the cheapest price offered, many people are going to be unhappy with that. Same goes for telephone and broadband, if I pay £25 a month for both and have no issues, if a nationalised supplier ups this to £30 per month, again, a lot of people are going to be unhappy.

October 3 2017 at 5:00 am

And why would that happen?

Give me one good reason

October 3 2017 at 11:28 am

The tarriff offered by the new nationalised supplier would have to be the cheapest on the market for every area (the old Manweb type boards) I cannot see one standard tarriff, paperless and internet billing did not exist over thirty years ago, neither did broadband. I’m not saying that this will happen, but the nationalised supplier would be criticised if it ran at a loss.

October 3 2017 at 12:39 pm

I am at a loss

Are you saying offer one fair tariff?

It defeats me why this cannot be legislated for now

October 3 2017 at 2:37 pm

No-one can say what tarriff would be available with a nationalised supplier, my point is that those of us who use comparison sites to get the best price for their gas and/or electricity as well as phone and/or would not be very happy if their annual bill rose by 20 percent. You admit yourself that when your contact with BT is up, you are considering moving elsewhere. With a nationalised supplier you would not be able to do that. A high percentage of areas are stuck with Openreach as their infrastructure, only limited areas have FTTP. I am not a telephone engineer, I do not know if it is possible to convert the existing copper wiring to fibre, I would imagine it would come at a high cost if it was, but the benefits would be be worth it (People’s QE?) What I would be interested in is your thoughts on using The Green New Deal in tandem with energy nationalisation, I personally think there is a good case here if used wisely. As for a fair tarriff, Scottish Water is usually cheaper than south of the border, it is generally in with the council tax bill. I still think that because technology has moved on, tarriffs for paper and paperless online billing would differ due to the obvious savings for the supplier.

I am sincerely hoping the need for this tariff fiasco – which is wholly designed to rip off most consumers – would end for good

This is the interesting part. It’s easy enough to find instructions on how to Odomolor Womens RoundToe Laceup Pu Solid HighHeels PumpsShoes Red zapJsL5X6m
, but I couldn’t find any instructions on what to do if you already had WordPress installed in the root directory.

Here’s what you do:

(First, make backups of everything.)

root folder

Step 5 is the key. It tells WordPress to look to your subdirectory for how to display your entire website. Even though your old WordPress installation still exists in your root directory, it’s completely ignored since you’ve told WordPress to look at your subdirectory instead.

You do not have to edit your .htaccess file. If you were only installing WordPress in a subdirectory, and there was no WordPress installation ever in your root , then you would have to copy the .htaccess file from your subdirectory to your root. However, you already have an .htaccess file there, and there should be no reason to move or edit it.

do not

I hope all of that made sense! It took me a while to figure out this processon my own. I hope it will help someone else.

Hah, I never would have guessed it was as simple as putting the second install in a subdirectory and then pointing it at the root when you want to “go live”. So simple!

Hi, this staging scenario is using the same DB for root current site and sub directory Staging site? The sub directory DB changes do not affect the Root DB use ? Just seems as though the DB changes for the Root would change from the sub directory changes. Obviously it works,,,, but,,, Why would changes from the sub directory not affect the Root ?

I’ve heard of using the Sub Domain approach, but it uses a new DB, importing the Files and DB from the current site. Once done, it’s the reverse. Name and save backups accordingly so you know what your working with.

So sub directory seems as logical. But shouldn’t it use a separate DB ?

Just trying to figure this DB thing out lol

Hi, They use different databases. When you install WP in the subdirectory, you create a new database for it there.

The sights and sounds of Confederate Gen. Thomas“Stonewall” Jackson’s Shenandoah Valley Campaign come to the village of Bath.

As the morning fog lifts from Hale Farm Village in the Cuyahoga Valley this month, Ohio’s largest annual Civil War encampment will come to life with bugles, campfires and historical re-enactors beginning their day as a soldier.

“Having a re-enactment at Hale Farm fits well because the site represents a similar time period to [that of the Civil War],” explains Hale Farm Village director Jason Klein.

The event kicks off Aug. 11 with a Civil War Education Day for kids age 7 to 12, where they will experience setting up camp and learn what food rations of the era were like.

“It is challenging to explain any war to kids,” Klein says. “We try to provide experiences that help kids relate to the people who lived during that time.”

Hale Farm Village works with Mike Church of the Federal Cavalry Association, a re-enactment group with 17 active regiments across the eastern U.S., to determine an appropriate battle to stage.

Church, who rides with the 6th Ohio Cavalry Regiment of the Federal Cavalry Association, says the group chooses to re-enact battles that are celebrating anniversaries that end in a five or a zero, because they tend to draw more spectators and participants. He adds that the size of a battle is important, because re-enactments should be presented to scale.

“This year we are going to do the battle of Port Republic,” he says. The pivotal battle in the Shenandoah Valley Campaign, led by Confederate Gen. Thomas “Stonewall” Jackson, kept thousands of Union troops away from the Confederate capital of Richmond, Virginia.

More than 700 re-enactors are expected to take part in this year’s event, with many coming from out of state.

Two hourlong battle re-enactments are scheduled for the weekend: one Aug. 12 at 2:30 p.m. and the other Aug. 13 at 2 p.m. The weekend will also feature an Abraham Lincoln re-enactor and the Camp Chase Fifes and Drums providing music from the Civil War era. Visitors will be able to witness a variety of cavalry drills, artillery drills and foot soldier demonstrations, as well as browse reproductions of Civil War goods that are available for purchase.

“It is a way to be 100 percent immersed in a history lesson,” Klein says. “It puts you right back in the 1800s during the Civil War.”
